Image quality could be better, but Ubisoft's solution works as an acceptable compromise given the level of detail and accomplished effects work on offer.ĭigging deeper into the game, we're looking at an identical looking set of assets and effects on both versions of Assassin's Creed Syndicate, with fairly low levels of AF (our guess would be 4x) utilised across ground surfaces, matching shadows and lighting, and the same textures and normal maps deployed across characters and environments.

The lack of per-pixel sharpness blurs over some of the more intricate texture and normal map details, although this also helps to reduce the appearance of upscale artefacts as the image is resized to full HD. Tackling the state of the conversion work first, core image quality is left untouched with both consoles handing in a 900p presentation backed up by a post-process anti-aliasing solution that gives the game a soft, but smoothed over appearance - no real change from Unity here. In effect, this piece isn't just a comparison between Xbox One and PS4 versions of the title - more fascinating are the compromises and improvements made to the core technology in the wake of the Unity debacle. Some crucial changes are made to the engine and there's the sense that Ubisoft has rebalanced the AnvilNext tech for the new game. Our initial impressions painted a promising picture: performance is substantially improved, while the gameplay experience is also more stable with little in the way of bugs and glitches. Multiplayer will be 900p 60fps.Assassin's Creed Syndicate sees Ubisoft redeem its flagship series after the catastrophic launch of last year's Unity.

Uncharted 4 single player will be 1080p 30fps. While Uncharted 4 might look pretier on a scene by scene case, Syndicate is a lot more impressive technically with a lot more happening at any point under the hood. Lastly on a technical level Anvil Next has to do a lot more heavylifting that Uncharted 4's engine, so the fact they got Syndicate to run at 30 fps on PS4 without comprommising the visuals, well that's downright a miracle. As far as I know they are aiming for 60, but they won't fix the framerate, so it will probably be similar to God of War 3, where it would go between 30 to 60, depending on what was on screen.Īlso Uncharted 4 is on a single platform, you'd be amazed what a big difference that makes. Uncharted 4, at least the single player, no way that will run at 60 fps, at least not a steady 60. Well MGS V was night and day between consoles and PC, let's just say Konami took a few shortcuts to get that to run at 60 fps.

Some studios just know how to console more than others, and same goes to PC, 4A GAMES, CDPR, croteam, DICE, etc.

Syndicate actually performs better, and manages to stay at 30FPS this time.īut what good is using them as examples when MGSV achieves 1080p 60FPS on PS4, or (And I know this isn't out yet) Uncharted 4, which looks better than Syndicate in both graphics and visuals, achieves 60FPS.

It's worth playing the best version and that's on the PC (honestly every single AC game has been the best on PC, even Unity, at least on PC it wasn't running at 15-20 fps). In my opinion after about 6 hours of playing it's one of the best AC games released so far, if not the best.
